ויכוח סביב הספר מצפה יקתאל. מודעה זו באה בעקבות "שמועות" שעוברות "בין אחינו בני ישראל, כי באו אגרות שונות ורצוף בתוכם כרוז מברלין, לק"ק פ"פ דאדר פראג האמבורג ברעסלויא ואמשטרדאם ועוד מקומות אחרים בלתי חתומים בשמות הכותבים לאמור: כי יצא הקצף מלפני כבוד אדוננו מ"ו הגאון המפורסם ובית דינו הצדק, להחרים את ספר מצפה יקתאל אשר יצא מחדש בדפוס חנוך נערים". המחברים מגנים קריאות להחרים לא רק את הספר עצמו אלא גם את בית הדפוס, אשר בראשו הם עומדים.
המחברים אף מצטטים את דברי "הרב הגאון", שנאמרו כאשר נשאל בדבר ההאשמות.

"מודעה" זו מופנית בעיקר אל קהל הקונים - אף כי יש להניח כי גם אל המחרימים. בסוף ה"מודעה" מציינים המחברים: "ומעתה יצאנו ידי חובותינו להודיע את כל זאת ברבים ולהשקיט לבב הקונים המתאוים לקנות ספרים אשר נדפסו אצלינו לרות צמאונם, להגדיל תורה ולהאדירה".
